Healthy Warrior Breakfast Smoothie

Vanessa’s Healthy warrior Breakfast Smoothie

When I first learnt about smoothies ( probably decades ago now) I realized that I had found a healthy way to feed my body with mega nutrients, all importantly regulate my gut to have a complete bowel movement every day ( AKA: a Big Banana Bowel Movement) and not stress my digestive system in one bang for my buck.

What do I mean: “Not Stress My Digestive System”????

Well, here goes with a definition: When we eat food, the body uses a lot of energy to process, digest, absorb, distribute and finally eliminate the waste matter of the content of what we have put in our mouths. It makes sense to me, that, first thing in the morning its a brilliant idea to reserve my energy for the day - not to stress out my body first thing with either a heavy or difficult to digest breakfast. If I did that, it seems to me that I’ve used up say, 40% of my energy before I’ve even left the house!

It also makes sense to me to feed my body with the healthiest, easiest to digest “fuel” I can give it so that I get the best results from my body in return. I demand a lot from my body every single day. I personally feel that I should nourish it with the best healthy organic foods so I can reap the benefits from my investment! Would you agree with that?

Hence: the Healthy Warrior Breakfast Smoothie! I call it that because I want to seize every single day and live 100%. When I go out my door in the morning I want to feel ready to meet everything head on ( just ask Scott my partner. He calls me me DYNAMO!)

Why do I use certain ingredients?

  • Firstly, I only use healthy fresh organic fruits and veggies. I don’t want to put pesticides or chemicals into my body EVER. I’m trying to feed my body only the best healthiest food so I want to either buy or grow the best.

  • You will see that I use a lot of green veggies. That’s because I want the chlorophyll from those wonderful healthy green leaves to oxygenate, detox and clean my blood every single day.

  • Apples contain “Malic Acid” naturally. Don’t worry it wont hurt you! Its a naturally occurring active ingredient that helps regulate the colon, is wonderful for your gall bladder and generally supports detoxification. There’s only a trace in an apple but if you eat an apple a day - you will keep the doctor away!

  • I put in at least 1/2 a beet in every smoothie. Beets are excellent for your liver and to help regulate the colon. They are supportive to your entire digestive system. Plus they make the Healthy Warrior Breakfast Smoothie a cool purple color!

  • Flax seed or Chia seed; This is the all important in-soluble fiber. Please understand that fruits and veggies are super healthy for you; they contain vitamins, minerals and hydrate your body. But, they dissolve as they are digested. They are a healthy soluble fiber. If you already eat a lot of fruits and veggies but your poops are either flat or not formed you may need to add IN-soluble fiber.

In-soluble fiber helps to create a nice big healthy poop ( AKA. A big banana bowel movement) because it exfoliates its way though your digestive system in a nice soft but “bulky” moist spongy mucilage. Once it reaches your colon it will hydrate and aid your colon to eliminate completely. There are no negative side effects from ingesting ground flax seed ( I use a coffee grinder designated for just that job) or soaked Chia seed… they are both FULL of nutrients and protein and your probiotics love to eat them too!!

I explain insoluble fiber and its many benefits indepth in my online course “ Gut Health Formula - Complete Guide and Protocols to Heal Your Gut Naturally” see link at the end!

  • Protein powder: I use the Pea protein powder. It tastes great, has more protein per tablesppon than beef and its quickly absorbed. I also recommend Goat milk protein for the same reasons.

I lilke to use a scoop of Collagen. Itss wonderful for your skin, nails, hair, bones and helps sooth and heal an unhappy gut.

Here’s the recipe to my Healthy Warrior Breakfast Smoothie:

Now, trust me - its not laid in stone. I fluctuate with whats growing in my garden, what’s best at the farmers market or the local store.

But - there is a magic formula that I keep to no matter what.

My magic Healthy Warrior Smoothie formula:

In a blender add the following - every single day if you want the best results! All organic don’t forget!

16oz Fresh clean water

1 banana

1/2 beet

3 medium kale leaves

1 apple

1 handful of spinach

1 chunk of cabbage ( about 3 inches wide)

3 tablespoons of ground flax seed OR 3 tablespoons of soaked chia seed

1 scoop pea protein and or 1 scoop collagen

BLEND UNTIL SMOOTH AND ENJOY A GREAT START TO YOUR DAY!

Here’s some additional things I will add to be spontaneous or to change it up a bit:

3 leaves chard

1/2 cucumber

1/4 bunch of parsley ( I include the stalks as they contain a lot of nutrients)

1/4 bunch of cilantro ( I include the stalks as they contain a lot of nutrients)

1 handful of blueberries

1 whole lettuce

1 handful blackberries

2 tablespoons flax seed oil or fish oil

I never put in peanut, fizzy pop or artificial sweeteners.

Ive literally had my Healthy Warrior Breakfast Smoothie almost every day for probably 30 years! OK! some times at the weekend I’ll change it up but this is now a routine that I love. Its quick, easy and cheap and I literally feel the nutrients saturate my body as it goes down. My skin is amazing, I never get pimples. My colon loves it and I have sustaining energy until around 3 pm when I need an afternoon snack. That’s not bad seeing that I have my Healthy Warrior Breakfast Smoothie at 7.00am.

I hope you enjoy your Healthy Warrior Breakfast Smoothie - please let me know if you have any questions or other ideas!
