Thriving the Pre-Menopause perils without HRT

Pre-Men-o-pause… REALLY? when do MEN have anything to do with this part of a woman’s life other than offering a shoulder to cry on (3 x a day) an air conditioner in the winter, ignoring the extra belly weight and pouring a lot of red wine and passing the chocolate? OK we do need them!! My partner is magnificent and wears a Beanie and a hoodie in the house while I’m in shorts and a t-shirt! (its December 2020)

Jokes aside - Pre-Menopause is a very challenging time and I can tell you that after very many sweaty days and nights, massive water retention to give me sores between my thighs and the emotional age of a 2 year old I decided to figure it out for myself NATURALLY without hormonal replacement. (HRT)

I felt that I wanted to support my body in this chapter instead of trying to replace particular hormones. Its such a complicated ‘rubics cube” that can fluctuate daily and frankly, I feel that the innate knowledge of the body is far superior than our knowledge.

IMAGINE HOW IT WOULD FEEL TO FINALLY ENJOY DEEP RESTFUL SLEEP, FREE FROM HOT FLASHES AND NIGHT SWEATS - NATURALLY

Before we jump in here’s a brief on whats actually going on -->

When ladies hit around 48-53 we change (for the better I add). Our hormones are worn to a frazzle and want out and it creates havoc.

There’s a cute little “almond’ behind your eyes at the top of your neck officially called the HYPOTHALAMUS (“Hypo”) that regulates your body temperature. Its pretty genius.

Hypo’ talks to your ovaries all the time about your estrogen and about generally keeping your hormones all on the same page and this works all your life until you get to 48-53. That’s when the ovaries and the Hypo’ cant communicate so well - its like they are going deaf. At this age, ladies naturally produce less Estrogen but the issue is that its like somebody cut the phone line between the ovaries and the Hypo’ because they cant hear each other any more. Its really sad. They start shouting at each other and its like these shouting matches show up as HOT FLASHES, NIGHT SWEATS, SLEEPLESSNESS, WATER RETENTION, WEIGHT GAIN, MOODINESS, FATIGUE, LOW LIBIDO etc. The ovaries and the Hypo’ try to communicate and leave a voice message all the time but the messages just don’t get through. I guess there’s no texting allowed.

When the Ovaries take an early retirement (lucky) the other hormones become “insecure” and try to “re-balance” themselves so there can be a surge of e.G. cortisol, or maybe testosterone or progesterone as they rally to make up for Estrogen that’s on a permanent on vacation. ADRENALS take over the job of producing and balancing the hormones as best they can. BUT, and I think I’m fairly accurate in saying that by this time in our lives we are pretty EXHAUSTED and our poor adrenals need support to do their new job description. Bless them for trying so hard.

SOLUTIONS:

There’s so much out there and so many opinions, its really confusing and I like simple so this is whats working for me….

I am taking the following supplements and Do-Terra Essential oils

HERBAL EXTRACTS work effectively with the Hypothalamus and Pituitary to balance our estrogen, progesterone, testosterone, cortisol and human growth hormone (HGH). This is our group of hormones that need to communicate with and stay IN HARMONY as we continue on our life journey and inner change. We are not replacing them but allowing them to shift their focus and gently go into a balanced hibernation.

  1. GLOW! and GLOW PM. A hormone, immune, thyroid and multi nutrient dietary supplement that supports the hormonal changes in women by simply supporting the organs and glands that have to work harder now that other glands have taken a permanent vacation. I take the GlowPM because i was having such bad night sweats and restless leg that Scott was starting to sleep on the couch with the dog and I got jealous. They are a great combination and I notice that in the morning I’m also less bloated and some mornings actually feel “slim”!

Check out DR.Michelle Sands, N.D “ HORMONE HARMONY” BOOK and www.Glownaturalwellness,com

  2. Pre and Pro Vitalize Probiotic - a symbiosis of particular pre and pro biotics that women need during the time of pre-menopause. These biotics help with the specific communication between your gut and your noggin (hypothalamus). It REALLY has helped with the massive water retention and bloating and actually I’m pooping a lot better too : ) purchase online at:

www.BetterBodyCo.com The two supplements work the best when taken together.

  3. Chromium Picolinate - the reason I take this is because it is a supplement that balances blood sugar by utilizing the stored fat in the body and making it into energy. The extra pounds that naturally appear during pre-menopause are depressing so I’m trying to exercise more and take this to help the body utilize the extra fat for energy.

  4. Adrenal support - even though there is adrenal support in the Glow supplement I take a little more. I know my adrenals are weak. So, I like to take a glandular supplement that has either a concentrate or extract of adrenal. If you are vegetarian or cant find a safe product then try Ashwaghanda or www.HostDefense.com medicinal mushroom combinations. I generally switch out between these three on about a monthly basis.

  5. Do-Terra essential oils - Clary calm blend, Whisper blend, Bergamot, Ylang Ylang. The pure essential oils are easily absorbed and are like worker bees to balance and uplift you. I put a few drops at the top of my neck at the back plus directly on my belly.

  6. Baths: I add Epsom salts, Clary sage, ceder wood and geranium for a relaxing, uplifting and all together deep wonderful time to myself

  7. My morning MENO’ smoothie: 1/2 beet, 3 kale leaves, chunk of cabbage, 1 banana, 3tbsp ground flax seed, scoop pea protein powder, 16oz water. ( beets help liver, kale helps “everything”, cabbage helps water retention and good bacteria in the gut, Flax is for the fiber and omegas)

Needless to say - a healthy diet of LOTS of veggies, fruits and lean meats, fish and proper water intake is necessary. If chocolate was a veggie I’d be on track but at this stage its not.

Exercise is also 100% important. Its extra important to flush out the lymph system and get a sweat up from exercising to release toxins and pent up emotions. Dont forget that you can do dry skin brushing with a loofah or soft body brush before your shower to help move the lymph.

This easy and safe protocol is helping me. I hope it helps you too. I’m probably in the early stages of suffering the menopause stage of my life but when I wasn’t taking this I was a miserable “boo boo” and no fun to be around. Scott will agree!

Please please get professional help. We are all different and complicated in so many ways. This article is not a diagnosis or prescription - its me sharing whats working for me and hopefully it could guide you to some relief too.

Good luck out there Ladies. May the force be with you xo
